To play blackjack, start with the basics

Learning how to play blackjack is a relatively straightforward process. A player needs to simply invest his time in doing so. Like in most card game, to play blackjack requires a 52 card deck. In this game, the colours and suits are meaningless, and all that is important is the worth of the cards. Card values are 2 points for a 2 card, 3 points for a 3 card and so on. Jacks, Queens, and Kings are all worth ten, and an ace can either be valued at a one point or eleven point.

The object of blackjack is to build a hand of 21 or less without going bust. Players are dealt one face up card and one face down, as is the dealer. After the player (or players) have had time to examine their hands, the dealer will ask if they would like to take another card (a hit) or refuse one (a stay). If a player gets dealt pairs, they have the option of splitting their blackjack hand, and thus creating two hands with which to play. This can be an ideal situation for a player, if they had a stiff hand. For example, if they were holding two 7’s, or a 14, this can be a diffcult hand to hit on. However, by splitting, a player now has a fresh start at getting a great hand.
